New Year, New Responsibilities
by Patricia Main

Tell A Friend

For the last few years, Will and I have been involved in teaching a Vision Quest class to new students on campus. This class is an orientation class for first year students; an overview of campus life and expectations at Haskell.

This year the program was changed from the one semester, weekly class format, to a condensed, one week session prior to the start of the school year. Now it will be my responsibility to mentor these new students throughout the first semester. This change brings a new challenge for me, but an exciting, yet humbling opportunity to encourage and advise where needed, and witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all ways.

Another opportunity for witness will be on Wednesday evenings at the campus fitness center. I will be in the fitness center with a group of young women as they work physically—I can work with them spiritually.

We continue to have Bible study and lunch at the LIGHT House every Wednesday. Vicar Will is leading a worship and praise service every second Sunday at LIGHT. I will be the song leader. Pray for me—I have not led song worship since my ministry in Canada!

These events will have taken place by the printing of this article, but we will welcome new students as we host an open house BBQ on the evening of September 28. And we look forward to our “float” in the homecoming parade on September 11.

Will and I are totally dependent on the work of the Holy Spirit and God’s grace as these new
doors of opportunity open for us on campus. We ask for your prayers as we faithfully proclaim
the Gospel among the students and staff at Haskell Indian Nations University, and we thank
you for your on-going support.
